Question Why are both sides of some scanned images cut off when "Automatic detection" has been activated?
Answer
Since "Automatic detection" refers to a document's length to determine its size, this function may choose an incorrect document size if the paper has been placed in the ADF sideways or if the document size does not fit one of the preset document sizes previously described.

[Automatic detection]
When ScanSnap has been set to "Automatic detection", it refers to the length of the first sheet of paper and selects the appropriate document size from one of the following standard sizes (excluding the "Customized document" size category).

Notes:
  • If you select "Automatic detection" and load an A6 size document onto the scanner, the document is categorized as "Post card" size.
  • Avoid placing documents containing paper of varying sizes in the ADF at the same time.
    • Letter [8.5in. x 11in. (216mm x 279.4mm)]
    • Legal [8.5in. x 14in. (216mm x 355.6)]
    • A4 [210mm x 297mm]
    • A5 [148mm x 210mm]
    • A6 [105mm x 148mm]
    • B5 [182mm x 257mm]
    • B6 [128mm x 182mm]
    • Post card [100mm x 148mm]
    • Business card [90mm x 55mm, 55mm x 90mm]

e.g.
When scanning A5 size documents in landscape, the paper width is detected as A6 size, regardless of the fact that its width is the same as that of an A4 document. In such cases, either place the document in the ADF lengthwise or manually specify A5 size.
