When setting up your scanner (3)

Question Why does a "restriction message" appear on my monitor that prevents me from using my ScanSnap?
Answer
If such a message appears, begin by trying the following countermeasures in the order they are written in.

  1. Unplug the unit and plug it in again. If the problem persists, proceed to number 2.
  2. Close the ScanSnap monitor and re-open it. If the problem persists, proceed to number 3.
  3. If you use a USB hub, try connecting your ScanSnap directly to the PC. If the problem persists, proceed to number 4.
  4. If your PC has two or more USB ports, try connecting your scanner to another port. If the problem persists, proceed to number 5.
  5. Re-boot your PC.

If the problem persists after trying all of the previous countermeasures, uninstall and reinstall the ScanSnap Driver using the following procedure.

  1. Make sure that the ScanSnap is turned on and it is connected to your PC.
  2. If your ScanSnap is listed in the Device Manager as "Unknown USB Device", delete it. You can confirm your ScanSnap using the control panel.
  3. If the ScanSnap monitor is opened, close it.
  4. Remove the ScanSnap driver from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel as outlined in Chapter 4 "Uninstalling ScanSnap" in the ScanSnap fi-5110EOX2 Operator's Guide.
  5. Do not re-boot your PC. Delete the SCANSNAP_PRV.PRP file.
