Question How does "ScanSnap" attach names to files? Can this process be customized?
Answer
Files are named using one of the following methods:

  1. Date and time (set using Operating System (OS) Settings)
File names vary, depending upon the OS setting
Any invalid characters included in a file name (such as /;+,*"<>) will be replaced with a "-" (hyphen)

  2. Date and time (year/month/day/hour/minute/second)
The date and time for when the image was scanned will be specified in the file name.
Example: If you scanned an image into a PDF file at 19:00:50 on July 27, 203, the file will be named "20030727190050.pdf"

  3. Users choose a name of their liking.
A file name containing letters (including Japanese characters) or numbers may be selected. (You may use from 1 up to 6 characters or numbers)

Note: When saving scanned images in PDF format, one file is created per batch. (Thus, if you are scanning 10 pages in a batch, only one file will be created.)
