When a multifeed is detected

An error message appears and the scan is suspended when a multifeed is detected during scanning.
Below is the procedure to be followed when a multifeed is detected.

  1. Switch the side of the previewed image using Front/back toggle button to check if the last scanned page is the same as the original.
    HINT
    • Front/back toggle button is not displayed when [Simplex Scan] is specified under [Scanning side] for [Scanning] in the [Profile] window.
  2. Resume the scan.
    The operation depends on whether the last scanned page is the same as the original.
    • When the last scanned page is the same as the original
    • When the last scanned page is not the same as the original

HINT

When the last scanned page is the same as the original

  1. Select [Keep]. Then, tap [Continue], or press the [Scan] button on iX500.
    Scanning resumes.
    The scanned image is saved when the scanning is completed.

When the last scanned page is not the same as the original

  1. Pull the ADF release tab towards you to open the ADF top section.
    Open the ADF top section.
  2. Remove document (1) and align the edges.

  3. Remove document (2) (two or more sheets) from the stacker of iX500, and load it again in the ADF paper chute (cover) without rotating it.

  4. Stack document (1) which was removed in step 2 on document (2).

  5. Select [Discard]. Then, tap [Continue], or press the [Scan] button on iX500.
    Scanning resumes.
    The scanned image is saved when the scanning is completed.
